Detboi is a lad from Ireland that is doing pretty big things at the minute. He is banging out a fair few remixes, and he has a catchy, bouncy, bassy sound.. similar to the dubsided crew.
This is probably the why hes been involved with the current
Machines don't care project that has been going on, which is a collaboration with wobbly bass lovers
Herve,
Sinden,
Drop the Lime and
Detboi. Even Fake blood has been involved in a cheeky production of a track called Trouble on the floor, which you can pickup at
Beatport.
Detboi's squelchy style can be seen in his efforts on The Count and Sindens "cheesed up" version of Beeper, with a thumping bass complimenting the niceley chopped vocals and occasional siren / beep. As much as i loathed the 'mainstream' addition of vocals to the classic Beeper, Detbois efforts makes it alot more listen-worthy:
The Count of Monte Cristal and Sinden - Beeper (Detboi Remix)His remix of Kidda's "Smile" follows with a similar vein, with chopped vocals building up into bouncy, crunky drops that even the crookers would nod their heads to! The song has an almost cartoony feel to it, not too different from the
Stereoheroes fun, bouncy numbers.
Kidda - Smile (Detboi Remix)The next one could easily be mistaken as a Bonde De Role track or some form of baile-funk number but quickly melts into a bassline heavy tune, with a garage / old skool feel made all the better with the ravey piano riff spread throughout the breakdowns.
